In this little book, Marianist Father Emil Neubert treats the identification of the soul with Jesus Christ through union with the Blessed Virgin Mary. Sanctity is conformity with Jesus Christ. There is no better way to reach that conformity than to be formed by the Mother who first gave Him to us.

Living with Mary is a concise, practical summary of Neubert’s larger work Life of Union with Mary. It is not a treatise on why one ought to love Our Lady. It is a guide to living with her—in prayer, in ordinary duties, and above all in union with her Son in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Mary remains present to form Christ in those who consent to live under her care. Blessed William Joseph Chaminade expressed it this way:

“Mary carries us ever in her chaste womb as babes until, having delineated in us the first traces of her Son, she brings us forth as she did Him. Mary unceasingly repeats to us the beautiful saying of Saint Paul, ‘My dear children, with whom I am in labor again, until Christ is formed in you.’”

Father Neubert was one of the principal Mariologists of the twentieth century and a faithful exponent of Chaminade’s doctrine. His writings were valued by St. Maximilian Kolbe and by Frank Duff of the Legion of Mary. What they found in him is what this book offers: a clear, maternal path by which devotion to Mary becomes the ordinary means of growing in faith, hope, and charity.
