Meditations for Every Day in the Month
Meditations for Every Day in the Month
First published in English in 1911, this collection offers thirty-one meditations—one for each day of the month—drawn from the Réflexions Chrétiennes of Rev. François Nepveu, S.J. (1639–1708). Translated by Francis A. Ryan and now reprinted by Cor Jesu Press, these reflections address the central truths of the Catholic faith: the end of man, death, judgment, sin, grace, humility, prayer, and heaven.
Following a modified Sulpician method, Nepveu’s meditations emphasize mental prayer as the foundation of the interior life, moving the will to align with God and stirring affection for Christ. Designed for daily use, this volume helps readers resist temptation, cultivate spiritual depth, and grow in devotion to Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary. In the translator’s words, its aim is fulfilled “if through it only one heart is made to beat with a purer love for Jesus Christ.”
